Victoria Joly is a Partner of Brookfield Financial focused on originating and executing new business opportunities related to advising public and private owners of commercial real estate and infrastructure assets on all aspects of their capital structure, which includes finding clients the right partner for their next phase of their growth.
As a part of the senior management team, she identifies and implements best practices in all areas of the business operation and provides the strategy, roadmap and resources for their implementation.
Victoria is Broker of Record for the real estate property brokerage operation in Ontario and for the past 20+ years has been involved in the marketing and sale of all forms of investment product across Canada. She has been involved in major transactions in every province across the nation and most recently acted for clients in the sale of the CN Central Station in Montreal, Yonge Eglinton Centre as well as Atrium on Bay, each in Toronto and Deerfoot Meadows, one of Calgary’s largest Power Centres.
Victoria’s unwavering commitment to clients, specialized experience and proven judgment in providing the requisite resources and time commitment to meet extremely compressed deadlines have been key to her success within the firm and the industry. Her attention to achieving results, along with thoughtfulness and an essential ability to gain senior-level attention, has established Victoria as a unique and accomplished individual within the real estate industry.
In 2008, the first Victoria Joly Legacy Scholarship will be awarded by Toronto CREW, a North American commercial real estate industry association, to an outstanding young woman in her final year of university study in a real estate program. It is no surprise that the organization chose Victoria as a role model for young women entering the real estate industry.
Victoria is both the Broker of Record under the Real Estate Council of Ontario and Principal Mortgage Broker under the Financial Services Commission of Ontario for Brookfield Financial Real Estate Group Limited.
Doug Podd has more than 14 years of experience in various real estate finance capacities. At Brookfield he has the overall responsibility for the debt placement platform within the advisory team. Previously, Doug worked on the principal side for El-Ad Group as Vice President of Finance for North American operations, with a portfolio in excess of $3 billion. Prior to that, Doug worked for Manulife, HSBC and First National in various lending capacities.
Doug has placed in excess of $3 billion of real estate debt; notable transactions include the debt placement on Cherokee’s Faubourg Boisbriand site, the financing of TD Canada Trust Tower at Brookfield Place, and the financing of the Ottawa Arts Centre.
Andrew joined Brookfield Financial’s London office in November 2009 as Partner. He has 10 years of investment banking experience and is responsible for originating and executing M&A, debt and equity capital markets transactions and general corporate finance advisory. Prior to Brookfield, Andrew spent 2 years at Eurohypo in the Global Advisory Group focusing on UK real estate transactions. Andrew qualified as a chartered accountant with Ernst & Young LLP before working in the Mergers & Acquisitions team there for 8 years, advising on private and listed transactions, capital and debt raising and restructuring.
Brian Bastable has worked in the commercial real estate industry for over 8 years. Brian is responsible for executing real estate brokerage transactions across office, retail, multi-family and industrial asset classes for Brookfield’s private, institutional and public company clientele. Prior to joining Brookfield, Brian was member of the investment and corporate services teams at a Royal LePage (now Cushman & Wakefield LePage).
Notable transactions that Brian has worked on include Atrium on Bay, CN Central Station Complex, Heron Gate Village, Kilbarry Portfolio, Highfield Apartments, and 420 Albert Street.
Brian graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 2000 with an Honours Bachelor degree in Economics.
